Heating Wood Pellets

Bagged Wood Pellets

Our heating and cooking pellets come in convenient bags that you can buy as needed. Purchase your pellets by the bag to pay only for what you use — no monthly heating bills determined by the oil company. Bagged heating pellets are also available by the ton (pallet) that results in a savings compared to buying it by the bag. Heating wood pellet fuel is most available, and the cheapest, in the spring and summer. We recommend stocking up on pellets at a dealer’s early buy program to ensure you have wood pellets ready for the cold before the fall rush. You can stock up on the number of pellets you need for your pellet stove and flex your usage based on the weather. Every year brings a different winter.

On average, you can get about 24 hours of heat from a single 40-pound bag of wood pellets. Wood pellets make calculating your heating costs easy — one package equals one day. However, every home and situation is different. You may use wood pellet as primary heat or secondary, you may live in northern Maine or Maryland. Depending on your location, and heating methods, you could need anywhere from 2 to 5 tons for the heating season. The best way of calculating your fuel costs and how much you can save by heating with pellets is by checking out our fuel calculator.

The Energex Standard

We have more than 25 years of experience in supplying our customers with clean, sustainable energy, and we put it to good use. Our decades of work gave us the knowledge we needed to establish the Energex Standard.

Our products already qualify under the Pellets Fuel Institute (PFI) Standards Program, which is considered one of the most stringent wood pellet benchmarks in the world. Keeping our PFI Quality Mark involves monthly random audits and extensive third-party product testing. This standard also requires pellet manufacturers to stay honest with customers like you. Products without PFI approval don’t have to fulfill the guarantees listed on the bag, while we follow through with our promises.

When we became PFI-certified, we didn’t settle for this already lofty standard — we expect even more out of ourselves. In addition to the PFI standards, we conduct scientific lab testing that monitors the moisture, ash, clean virgin wood fiber, durability, fines, and much more. Any shipment that doesn’t make the cut goes back to the supplier, and any product that fails testing doesn’t go on the shelves. Consistency, quality, and customer satisfaction — that’s the Energex Standard.
